Set in 300 acres of sculpted parkland, this great ancestral home of Sir Hugh Blackett was converted into a luxury spa and golf hotel in 1999. It is one of the great hotels of the North East and is an ideal spot for groups seeking (affordable) comfort in the eastern sector of the route. The Library restaurant has 2 AA Rosettes and if you have the time and energy, there's a 27-hole golf course.
