But only 5 mins walk from town centre - with plenty of cafes/restaurants and supermarkets. The Old Brewery is part of the Old Theakstons Brewery and sits beside the River Caldew, opposite Carlisle Castle, and is a student hall of residence for most of the year converting into a youth hostel during the summer months.

This splendid example of Edwardian architecture was built in 1905 on the site of the original Crown and Mitre Inn, and took three years to construct. Bang in the centre of Carlisle, amidst the historic sites such as Carlisle Cathedral, Carlisle Castle, the Old Town Hall, the Guildhall and Tullie House Museum. Refurbishments are now completed on over 50 of the guest rooms. The hotel welcomes cyclists and is a truly comfortable and stylish place to take a night off and rest your weary limbs.
